special guest blog & childhood comics

today it's a special guest blog from marky, my first comic partner. it's a simple portrait of trusty bob, mark's main character. i always admired mark's drawing style because though it was not refined it had a certain skwonky quality. when in elementary school we teamed up to make a series of comics featuring trusty bob & big bad butch, who began as adversaries but then became friends after realizing the futility of their war which culminated with the state of florida being blown into the ocean after a particularly spectacular final battle. though they had now become pacifists, they were pursued by the government's anti-bob/butch team. along the way several secondary characters joined the story including Awesome Animal, Mr. Mean, Deformed Dave, Cabbage Patch, and a mysterious accident-prone bicycle-riding piano teacher.
The first incarnations often featured one of the main characters being bombarded by any number of increasingly-abstract weapons, which i've tried to recreate below mark's trusty bob portrait.
